Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading estimates on complex projects, interacting with stakeholders, and providing expert guidance to junior estimators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead estimates on complex projects, including residential, commercial, and hospitality buildings
- Interact with stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and trade contractors
- Provide expert guidance to junior estimators and project managers
- Perform complex quantity takeoffs and supervise the work of others
- Solicit sub-trade and supplier pricing quotes and administer sub-trade database
- Assist in the preparation of drawing reviews, including coordinating RFI's from sub-trades to consultants
- Take ownership of the estimate with minimal supervision, preparing direct and indirect costs
- Stay up-to-date with current market rates for building materials and labor, and provide input to the team on construction cost matters
- Review and develop construction schedules and ensure alignment with the estimate
- Review construction methodology and ensure alignment with the estimate
- Review and analyze quotes, providing data to support trade selection
- Lead value engineering processes
- Strong computer background, including experience with MS Office, On-Screen Takeoff, and Bluebeam
Requirements:
- 7+ years of estimating experience, including residential and commercial market experience
- General Contractor and/or Trade Contractor experience is preferred
- College diploma or university degree in construction management, civil engineering, or quantity surveying
- Experience in both concrete and wood frame construction is preferred but not necessary
- Strong network of business relationships with trade contractors in the local Vancouver area
- Ability to conduct multi-tasking in an organized fashion
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive attitude and a strong desire to take on new challenges and responsibilities
Compensation:
- $120,000 - $150,000+ base pay
- Performance-based bonus programs
