Corporate Privacy Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Privacy Advisor to join our team at the City of Calgary. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the protection of personal information and compliance with relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for projects and initiatives to identify and mitigate potential privacy risks.
- Provide guidance and support to business areas on the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act.
- Collaborate with project teams to design and develop new and revised products that meet privacy standards.
- Conduct research on technology and vendor privacy policies and practices to identify potential risks and develop mitigations.
- Monitor and report on compliance with privacy legislation and policies.
- Master's degree in a related field, such as Arts, Business, Information Management, or Public Policy.
- At least 3 years of direct work experience in privacy legislation.
- Sound knowledge of freedom of information and protection of privacy principles.
- Professional designation or certification in information privacy, such as CIPP/C or CIPM.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with others.
