About the Role:

Alberta Health Services is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist I to join our Allied Health & Patient Experience team at Alberta Hospital Edmonton. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in improving the well-being of patients and programs within our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate physical, cognitive, social, and sensory needs.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized treatment plans that address patient goals.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to improve patients' abilities to perform daily activities and support patients in managing mental health and addiction challenges.
  • Support patients in achieving optimum functional abilities and independence related to their cognitive, affective, spiritual, and physical strengths and limitations.
  • Engage individuals, groups, and communities to enable meaningful and chosen occupations, including self-care, productivity, and leisure.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program.
  • Registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
  • Current Heart & Stroke Foundation Basic Life Skills (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification and experience in therapeutic interventions, including effective de-escalation techniques, CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the assessment and treatment of individuals with mental health concerns/diagnoses.
