Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team at the Hospice Residence. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide direct nursing care to patients, assessing their physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychosocial needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and plan nursing care for assigned patients, implementing and evaluating care plans as needed.
  • Communicate and consult with healthcare team members about patient care plans, participating in interdisciplinary conferences and explaining plans to patients and families.
  • Act as an advocate for patients, protecting and promoting their rights to autonomy, respect, privacy, dignity, and access to information.
  • Document timely and accurate reports of relevant observations, including patient and family teaching and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, identifying patient care issues and collecting data to evaluate patient care programs, techniques, standards, and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and/or Psychiatric Nursing.
  • Two years' recent, related medical nursing experience in an acute care facility, including one year recent related experience in a hospice/palliative care environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Requirements
  • Knowledge of nursing practice as it pertains to hospice palliative/residence patients.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain rapport with patients, families, and caregivers.
