Your Role and Contributions
- Develop conceptual layouts for structure and system installations across the complete airframe for both new and existing aircraft programs.
- Collaborate closely with stress, systems, interiors, and support functions such as thermodynamics and mass properties.
- Create preliminary design studies and layouts utilizing 3D modeling techniques.
- Provide technical solutions to address design or manufacturing challenges.
- Generate and implement weight-saving initiatives.
- Contribute to impact analysis regarding technical, cost, and schedule aspects.
- Support other engineering and operations departments directly.
- Assist in design and program reviews with partners and suppliers.
- Deliver project status updates to management.
- Oversee design modifications throughout all phases of the change management process.
Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- A technologist or bachelor's degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering or a related technical field, along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the aerospace industry.
- Strong understanding of aircraft structures and/or systems installation, including configuration, preliminary sizing, design for manufacturing, detail design (sheet metal, machined parts, piping, component assembly, GD&T), materials and processes, certification requirements, weight control, and industry design standards.
- Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing processes and capabilities.
- Knowledge of aircraft systems' overall operation and function is advantageous.
- Experience with in-service operations and aircraft maintenance is a plus.
- Familiarity with aircraft interiors is beneficial.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5, Enovia, and MS Office is required; knowledge of NX and Teamcenter is an asset.
- Energetic individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a strong sense of commitment, and the ability to work independently in a high-pressure team environment.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French is an asset.
