Senior Transmission Line and Civil Engineering Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Transmission Line and Civil Engineering Manager to join our team at AltaLink Management Ltd. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading a team of transmission line and civil engineers on various projects, including the Capital Replacement and Upgrade program and Direct Assigned and Customer Connected projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of transmission line and civil engineers to ensure the successful delivery of projects;
  • Oversee the accurate and timely delivery of project designs and subject matter expert reports;
  • Review engineering contractor estimates for cost, schedule, quality, and safety, and ensure best practices are implemented;
  • Collaborate with other functional groups to ensure commitments are met and obstacles are removed;
  • Ensure that project document packages meet quality standards and are issued in a timely manner;
  • Provide direction and constructive feedback to a diverse team of senior engineers;
  • Build relationships with internal and external business partners to ensure the best design outcome for our customers;
  • Make quick decisions on project issues with little or incomplete information;
  • May be required to stand in for the Director of Engineering, Projects;
  • May be required to act as a regulatory witness for CRU Transmission Lines projects;
  • Perform the duties of a Responsible Member as outlined in AltaLink's PPMP.

Requirements:

  • University Bachelor Degree(s) in Engineering required;
  • A member in good standing with APEGA with eligibility to become a Responsible Member is required;
  • Minimum of 10 years of transmission lines design or related experience;
  • Previous management experience would be an asset;
  • Experience with Standards, Materials, Codes, and Specifications preferred;
  • Proficiency in designing with PLSCADD would be an asset;
  • Proven ability/experience in the above-noted responsibilities;
  • Demonstrated leadership ability;
  • Ability to create an inclusive environment;
  • Excellent problem solver coupled with a proven ability to lead groups involved in fast-paced, high-pressure environments;
  • Effective communication (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive customer outcomes;
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships within all levels of an organization;
  • Strong collaboration skills;
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a wide variety of issues simultaneously.
