Reporting to the Principal Investigator (Physician Lead) of the Influenza and Emerging Respiratory Pathogens team, the Research Project Coordinator will oversee various research initiatives, including the evaluation of annual influenza vaccine effectiveness through the Sentinel Practitioner Surveillance Network. This position will facilitate collaboration among research teams, stakeholders, and partners across different organizations to address challenges and enhance project outcomes.

The Coordinator will be responsible for creating essential documents such as research proposals, consent forms, and data collection instruments, while also assisting in funding applications and submissions to the Research Ethics Board. This role involves establishing project budgets and timelines, as well as developing strategies to track project progress and ensure that objectives are met.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Principal Investigator to develop research proposals and manage project budgets, ensuring financial resources are utilized effectively and project goals are achieved. Prepare progress reports for stakeholders. Implement procedures to ensure project objectives are met, utilizing effective project management methodologies. Assist in preparing funding applications and obtaining necessary approvals from the Research Ethics Board. Conduct literature reviews to support research initiatives. Provide guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle, participating in project management research and evaluation efforts. Identify and resolve barriers to project success, fostering collaborative relationships among various departments and external partners. Develop and maintain documentation such as research protocols and data collection tools; recruit and train research teams and participants. Manage research databases, ensuring data quality and integrity. Evaluate project milestones in consultation with the Principal Investigator, addressing any discrepancies and recommending improvements. Assist in the dissemination of research findings through presentations and publications, as well as knowledge translation efforts. Identify potential funding sources and assist in the preparation of grant applications and budgets. Provide leadership and direction to research staff and trainees, offering feedback and orientation as needed. Liaise with funding agencies and collaborators to ensure alignment on project objectives.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Science, Nursing, or a related health field, along with five years of experience in research project coordination or development, and certification as a Project Management Professional. Training in Tri-Counsel Ethics for Research Involving Human Subjects and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certification is an asset.

Skills & Knowledge

Comprehensive understanding of project design, methodologies, and management principles. Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced environment. Strong research subject recruitment skills. Excellent organizational, analytical, and decision-making abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion. Capacity to work under tight deadlines and independently. Initiative and independent judgment in executing responsibilities. Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and maintain positive relationships. Proficient in MS Office and statistical software, with strong computer skills. Commitment to fostering reconciliation and understanding of Indigenous issues in Canada.
