Location: Calgary, Alberta – On-site position

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities are required.
  • Proficiency in medium and low voltage power distribution design is essential.
  • Expertise in protective relaying, motor control systems, area classification specifications, electrical equipment sizing, and PLCs is necessary.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety standards and code compliance is a must.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of critical electrical documentation including area classifications, fugitive emissions studies, single line diagrams, and load lists.
  • Provide electrical insights into the detailed scope of work, design basis document, and project execution plan.
  • Develop electrical designs for projects or proposals.
  • Establish detailed engineering design criteria.
  • Analyze vendor or subcontractor designs for specific equipment.
  • Review peer work to ensure design consistency and integrity across the project.
  • Verify and check all discipline deliverables.
  • Lead the development of electrical material take-offs (MTOs) and labor estimates.
  • Contribute electrical input for DBM, detailed scope of work, and PEP while coordinating with relevant disciplines.
  • Prepare engineering man-hour estimates and assist in project scheduling.
  • Prepare and/or review electrical single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Develop and assess electrical equipment and construction specifications.
  • Engage in engineering for procurement activities, including MRQ/MRP development, technical evaluations, and vendor drawing approvals.
  • Contribute to the engineering development of Construction Work Packages, including project descriptions, construction specifications, IFC drawings, and material lists.
  • Provide engineering support during construction phases, including field engineering, inspections, and special studies.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5 to 9 years of experience in the electrical sector, particularly within oil and gas, with a background in EPCM.
  • Experience in Oil & Gas facility projects, covering areas such as heavy oil facilities, well tie-ins, pipelines, compressor stations, and field gas processing facilities.
  • Knowledge of various electrical codes and standards (e.g., CSA, IEEE, API) and the ability to coordinate with other engineering disciplines is required.
