About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Smith + Andersen. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical building systems for various projects. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that our designs meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical building systems, including electrical distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
  • Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and reports for electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, structural engineers, and mechanical engineers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
  • Perform electrical load calculations and develop power distribution layouts.
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge of electrical building systems, including codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Assist in the development of project proposals, including estimating and bidding.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical expertise to clients and project teams.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical design engineering, preferably in a consulting engineering firm.
  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical building codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
