Job Overview

BDC Capital, the investment arm of the Business Development Bank of Canada, is seeking a highly skilled Director of Growth and Transition Capital to join its team. As a key player in technology financing, growth projects, acquisitions, and transfers of technology companies, this individual will use their expertise to make a significant impact on the success of Canadian entrepreneurs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and evaluate financing and investment opportunities to identify potential growth projects.
  • Draft loans that meet BDC Capital's investment criteria, ensuring a strong return on investment.
  • Act as an advisor to management staff and entrepreneurs, providing proactive recommendations to drive business growth.
  • Meticulously monitor investments and manage portfolio risk to ensure optimal returns.
  • Develop and implement portfolio risk management strategies to mitigate potential losses.
  • Build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders in the business community to identify new business opportunities.
  • Seek out business opportunities through rigorous business development, leveraging the candidate's network and expertise.
  • Take responsibility for individual planning, creating and implementing a marketing and development plan to drive business growth.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in the tech market to inform investment decisions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field, or a professional qualification.
  • More than five years of experience in financing, with a strong interest or experience in the technology sector.
  • Strong analytical, risk assessment, and financial forecasting skills.
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions and a desire to be part of business development by developing a network.
  • Sound judgment in the field of financing, credit, and investment.
  • Ability to build trust and good business relations with customers, with a strong customer approach.
  • Strong negotiation skills, focused on results.
  • Comfortable communicating in English and French, written and spoken.
