The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Site Reliability Engineering team, you will work closely with Software Engineers to deploy and operate production systems and processes. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the highest levels of stability, uptime, security, maintainability, scalability, and performance of our production systems.

Our infrastructure is a hybrid environment, comprising both cloud and datacentre-based infrastructure. As an SRE, you will be responsible for managing both cloud and on-prem environments, with a focus on datacentre-based systems. You will develop new features, write scripts and programs for automation using Golang and Python, and contribute to improving our architecture and processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Utilize various open source technologies to ensure system reliability and performance
  • Experience with Cisco networking, LAN/WAN networking, and enterprise storage systems
  • Provision, install, secure, monitor, manage, and maintain Unix/Linux servers on scale using Puppet and Terraform/Kubernetes
  • Build independent web-based tools, microservices, and solutions
  • Write scripts and automation using Golang and Python
  • Configure and manage data sources like Kafka, PostgreSQL, Memcache, Redis, Elasticsearch, etc.
  • Use various tools to orchestrate solutions and ensure system reliability
  • Understand system dependencies and IT operations management
  • Manage source control using GIT and ensure Unix/Linux standards, processes, procedures, and security best practices
  • Mentor team members and grow the team's technical level and expertise
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related technical field experience
  • 10+ years of experience in managing Unix/Linux-based infrastructure
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with at least one programming language
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with databases, including Kafka, PostgreSQL, Memcache, Redis, and Elasticsearch
  • Working knowledge of complex web hosting configuration components, including firewalls, load balancers, web servers, application servers, and databases
  • Sense of ownership and pride in performance and its impact on company success
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal, documentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to secure and lock down systems, disaster recovery planning, and experience building high availability systems
  • AWS and/or GCP experience, experience with Docker and Kubernetes, and experience with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins and Concourse
  • Solid understanding of networking (L3/L4 routing)
