Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Stationary Engineer to join our team at Redpath Sugar Ltd. in Toronto, ON. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our industrial powerhouse, including oil/gas fired boilers, auxiliary equipment, and other related systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain oil/gas fired boilers, auxiliary equipment, and other related systems in accordance with established procedures and regulations.
  • Carry out routine Steam Power Plant duties, including start-ups, shutdowns, and maintenance tasks.
  • Assist the Powerhouse Shift Operating Engineer on power plant startups and shutdowns as scheduled.
  • Provide shift relief as required and comply with all Occupational Health and Safety legislation and guidelines.
  • Ensure that all powerhouse activities are carried out in accordance with environmental legislation requirements.
  • Maintain, monitor, and conduct routine tests on fire protection systems and associated equipment.
  • Participate in maintenance planning and repair of equipment, and carry out preventative maintenance tasks to ensure all systems are fully functional at all times.
Requirements
  • A valid Ontario Second Class Operating Engineer Certificate is required. 3rd Class Operating Engineer Candidates currently pursuing Second Class Engineer with at least 50% of exams completed to be considered.
  • 3rd Class Candidates preferred, if not, must be capable of obtaining 3rd Class Operating Engineer certificate within one year of employment.
  • Good mechanical aptitude, proficient computer skills with standard Microsoft software (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • The ability to quickly respond to dynamic, evolving circumstances.
  • Capable of studying and interpreting mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation system blueprints and maintenance manuals.
