We are currently seeking an Environmental Justice Air-Quality Engineer to support the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in advancing its mission of promoting environmental justice and equity. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in reviewing and evaluating environmental assessment documents and policies from various governmental agencies to assess the geographic reach and implications of infrastructure projects on communities affected by environmental justice issues. The Air-Quality Engineer will contribute to comprehensive reports that incorporate environmental justice and equity considerations into FERC's operational processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Examine and assess environmental assessment documents and policies from federal, state, and local agencies to identify impacts on environmental justice communities concerning infrastructure initiatives.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of air quality, pollution levels, permitting processes, and emissions in relation to FERC-regulated energy projects.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure that environmental justice factors are integrated into FERC's decision-making and operational processes.
  • Provide expert guidance on air quality regulations, compliance standards, and best practices.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations that summarize findings related to the geographic scope of environmental justice impacts.
  • Engage in staff briefings and communicate effectively with stakeholders to present analytical results and recommendations.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and innovative technologies related to air quality and environmental justice.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Atmospheric Science, or a related discipline is required.
  • A Master's degree or higher in Air Quality Management, Environmental Science, or a relevant field is preferred.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
