Trauma Support Specialist (STV Program)

About the Position:

Family Services of Greater Vancouver has been a leader in crisis intervention since 1928, assisting individuals in acquiring the skills and knowledge necessary for positive transformation in their lives.

We are currently in search of a skilled and compassionate Trauma Support Specialist to become a part of our STV counseling program and Trauma Services team.

Trauma Support Specialists in the STV Program provide trauma-informed counseling for individuals who have endured childhood sexual and/or physical abuse.

If you are committed to aiding clients on their path to healing from a feminist, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and intersectional perspective, this opportunity is tailored for you.

Position Details:

  • Part-time role: 20.5 hours weekly
  • Location: Richmond office
  • Grade 13 Step 1 Salary: $41.61 per hour
Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver trauma-informed counseling services, including intake, assessment, treatment, referrals, and collaboration with other service providers
  • Employ somatic methods, expressive arts-based interventions, and other best practices in trauma treatment
  • Exhibit clinical counseling skills for both individual and group sessions
  • Uphold a commitment to feminist, anti-oppressive practices
Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology or equivalent
  • Registered with a professional body (BCACC, BC College of Social Workers)
  • Minimum of 3 years of counseling experience with trauma survivors
  • Training in trauma-informed counseling and related techniques
  • Ability to engage with a diverse client population
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and proof of Covid-19 vaccination
