Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with substantial experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to contribute to the development of cutting-edge transceiver modules and subsystems tailored to our clients' specifications. This role encompasses both leadership and collaborative support throughout various stages of product development, from initial concept to mass production. Familiarity with optical and microelectronic components will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to devise mechanical design and analytical solutions that fulfill project specifications. Design projects may include:
    • Telecommunications transceivers and associated subsystems.
    • Microelectronic packaging and multi-chip modules.
    • High-speed RF applications.
    • Design oversight for fixturing to aid product development and process engineering.
  • Utilize FEA and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools to assess both linear and non-linear materials, focusing on:
    • Stress states and fatigue analysis.
    • Thermal performance and behavior.
    • Warpage and deformation assessments.
    • Modal response evaluations.
    • Combined thermal, stress, and strain behavior analysis.
  • Establish design concepts that align with transceiver Multi-Source Agreements (MSAs) and microelectronic packaging standards.
  • Conduct design risk assessments and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate with process and test engineering teams to ensure design compatibility with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Engage with component suppliers to align designs with manufacturing practices.
  • Perform detailed statistical tolerance analyses for products and assembly tooling.
  • Create comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, part and assembly drawings, Bill of Materials, and process flows.
  • Assist in defining and managing project timelines to achieve deliverables while coordinating activities within the development team.
  • Support prototype construction and engineering design verification to ensure compliance with established requirements.

Qualifications

  • A relevant engineering degree with a minimum of 8 years of design experience.
  • Proven experience in designing various transceiver modules compliant with MSAs.
  • Expertise in optimizing thermal, opto-mechanical, and electrical layouts within constrained spaces.
  • Knowledge of high-volume casting processes and associated design limitations.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software, with SolidWorks as a preferred tool.
  • Experience with FEA and CFD analysis tools, particularly ANSYS.
  • Familiarity with optical and microelectronic technologies, materials, and assembly processes.
  • Understanding of material technologies, including eutectic solders and thermal interface materials.
  • Experience in comprehensive product development, with an emphasis on manufacturing implementation.
