Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Optical Engines Business Unit at ADVA. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the design and introduction to manufacturing of high-speed, highly integrated assemblies for the optical communications market.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Development: Utilize CAD design software, such as CREO and Solidworks, to create high-quality mechanical designs for opto-mechanical modules and assemblies.
  2. MSA Form Factor Requirements: Ensure compliance with opto-mechanical module MSA form factor requirements.
  3. Micro-Manipulators and Probe Stations: Design and assemble parts for electrical and/or optical probe stations, and have experience with manual and automated micro-manipulators.
  4. FEA Stress and Thermal Modeling: Perform FEA stress and thermal modeling on electro-optical assemblies.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Design Fixtures and Manuals: Generate mechanical design fixtures required for PCB test boards or optical alignment support brackets or grippers, and create working drawings and mechanical assembly manuals.
  2. Prototyping and Procurement: Obtain quotations and lead times, and order prototype parts from local machine shops.
  3. Other Duties: Perform other duties as required by the team.
Requirements and Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Skills and Experience: Design for Manufacturing knowledge, proficiency in mechanical measuring devices, and ability to write mechanical specifications for assembly manual instructions.

Requirements and Work Environment: Ability to generate high-quality design documents, good communication skills, and self-motivation.

Success Criteria: Team player.

Team and Department: R&D, Optical Engines Business Unit.

Licenses or Certifications: None.

Travel Requirements: 10% travel, 5% international, 5% domestic.

Scope of Employment: Full-time Employee, Permanent, Salaried.
