Job Summary:

Barminco Mine Services Canada Ltd. is seeking a skilled Maintenance Lead Hand / Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at our client Barrick's Hemlo Operations. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our underground mining equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Minimize equipment downtime and maximize productivity by working collaboratively with the maintenance team.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure they are serviceable and safe for use.
  • Train and mentor team members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Carry out standard workplace inspection practices and procedures to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to ensure all team members are aware of their responsibilities and any potential hazards.

Requirements:

  • Commitment to working safely and ensuring the safety of others.
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Ontario Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician trade license required (421A).
  • Red Seal Certification is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a lead-hand or supervisor role in a fast-paced underground mine environment.
  • Ontario Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core.
  • Supervisor Common Core.
  • Strong background working with underground mobile mining equipment, including Sandvik, CAT, Normet, Volvo, and MacLean.
  • Experience in managing breakdowns and scheduled servicing on underground mining equipment.
  • Strong communications, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Willingness to share knowledge and have an open mind to learning new skills.
