Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Mechanical and Electrical Support Assistant to contribute to our operations at the Hemlo site.

  • This position operates on a 14-days on / 14-days off schedule.
  • Shifts will alternate between days and nights.
  • Candidates must be Canadian residents.

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Lead Hand, the successful applicant will prioritize safety for themselves and their colleagues while assisting skilled tradespeople in performing mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks underground.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aid maintenance teams by executing tasks related to mechanical or electrical upkeep on both heavy and light mobile equipment, as well as electrical systems underground.
  • Utilize power tools and equipment as necessary; operate mobile machinery to move materials and supplies.
  • Undertake additional duties as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A strong commitment to safety practices, ensuring the well-being of oneself and others.
  • Some experience and knowledge of heavy and light mobile equipment and/or electrical maintenance are necessary.
  • Previous experience in an underground mining environment is preferred.
  • Flexibility and willingness to assist with various tasks as needed.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Capability to thrive in a diverse, cross-cultural workplace.
