Position Overview

We are seeking a Contracts Manager specializing in Physician Relations and Compensation.

Reporting to the Leader of Contracted Physician Services, the Contracts Manager is tasked with delivering comprehensive contract management and administration for all physician agreements within the designated clinical service portfolio at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). This role provides expert guidance to senior clinical and operational leaders, aligning with the organization's Physician Contracting and Compensation Policy Framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer timely insights and evaluations to medical and operational leadership regarding various contract and compensation alternatives tailored to specific needs for contracted physician services.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence in the creation of new contracts by identifying potential risk factors (financial, service appropriateness, compliance, etc.).
  • Oversee and direct the contract renewal strategy for the assigned portfolio.
  • Draft contract proposals and assist in negotiations for new or renewed agreements.
  • Collaborate with VCH Finance to ensure all payments are substantiated by valid contracts and that all necessary documentation is maintained.
  • Ensure that all contracts, related documents, and correspondence are accurately recorded in the Contract Database.
  • Regularly meet with operational representatives to assess contract performance and service delivery against contractual obligations.
  • Monitor and evaluate contract revenue recoveries, implementing strategies to maximize revenue where applicable.
  • Identify discrepancies in contract performance and propose potential remedial actions.
  • Prepare analysis and briefing materials related to specific contract performance issues, utilizing data from various sources (financial, clinical, administrative, etc.).
  • Provide expert interpretation of contracts directly or by consulting with relevant experts.
  • Engage in or lead various process or quality improvement initiatives related to departmental operations.
  • Collaborate with representatives from other Health Authorities and data custodians to support physician compensation analysis and reporting efforts.
  • Work alongside Information Management / Information Technology and other VCH personnel to ensure timely and reliable data reporting and analysis.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols, promptly reporting any unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
