Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Specialist to join our team at BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services. As a key member of our inter-professional team, you will play a vital role in providing rehabilitation services to patients in our minimum and medium security units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans to address the assessed needs of patients, incorporating a wide range of group-based rehabilitation and vocational programs.
  • Collaborate with the inter-professional team to provide recommendations and participate in the development of individualized rehabilitative treatment plans for patients.
  • Conduct rehabilitation assessments and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed to ensure priority needs are met.
  • Work collaboratively with other Rehabilitation colleagues and Treatment Team members to analyze the needs of target patient populations and develop new program initiatives.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, ensuring equipment and supplies are stored appropriately and accounted for.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized recreational, rehabilitation or related health or human services program, plus two years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid Food Safe Certificate.
  • Valid Class 4 BC Driver's License.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, In Plain Sight Report, and other related reports.
