We are in search of a Senior Wetland Ecology Specialist to lead our dedicated team in the field of ecological restoration. This is a permanent full-time role focused on guiding vegetation ecology, environmental compliance applications, and associated projects. Our project work emphasizes teamwork, safety, and is executed for various sectors including energy, forestry, governmental bodies, and private landowners across Alberta and British Columbia.

We specialize in conducting environmental inventories and spatial analyses to fulfill comprehensive ecological restoration goals and ensure regulatory adherence. With a presence in multiple locations and operations spanning the province, we are expanding our team of experts to deliver innovative solutions and technologies to our clients. Every role within our organization is crucial for maintaining safety, delivering client value, and upholding our leadership in environmental restoration services.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure safe and effective project execution;
- Oversee the Wetland Team and manage project initiatives;
- Direct project outcomes and foster relationships with colleagues, management, regulatory bodies, and clients;
- Provide strategic direction and business development insights to the organization;
- Ensure compliance with regulations and implement best practices for vegetation and wetland management;
- Support our mobile technology for wetlands, maintain spatial data integrity, and manage web-enabled dashboards;
- Conduct senior-level reviews of ecological reports and data analyses;
- Encourage mentorship and promote the professional growth of team members.
- In-depth knowledge of current best practices and regulatory standards for wetland assessments and applications;
- A degree or technical diploma in Environmental Science, Earth Science, Forestry, Biology, Engineering, Geomatics, or Surveying is required;
- Certification as a Wetland Professional with registration in a recognized Professional Regulatory Organization in Alberta;
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is essential;
- Strong skills in technical writing, data analysis, reporting, and communication;
- Experience with GIS and geospatial data analysis is advantageous;
- Previous experience in teaching ecological or data-related subjects is a plus;
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a focus on quality, safety, and customer service.
