Lead Wetland Ecologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Wetland Ecologist to join our team at Woodlands North Inc. in Edmonton. As a key member of our environmental and ecological restoration team, you will be responsible for leading vegetation ecology environmental regulatory applications and related projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage project work, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of results.
- Manage the Wetland Team and project work, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Develop and implement senior direction, business development, and strategy development to drive growth and success for Woodlands.
- Maintain regulatory compliance and best management practices for vegetation and wetlands management, ensuring our work meets the highest standards.
- Support the development and maintenance of our wetlands mobile technology, spatial data set integrity, and web-enabled dashboard.
- Provide senior ecology review of reports and data analysis, ensuring accuracy and quality.
- Support mentorship and inspire the professional development of Woodlands employees, fostering a culture of growth and excellence.
- Knowledgeable in current best management practices and regulatory requirements for wetland assessments and regulatory applications.
- University Degree or technical diploma in Environmental, Earth Science, Forestry, Biology, Engineering, Geomatics, or Surveying.
- Authenticating Wetland Professional with professional registration in one of Alberta's Professional Regulatory Organizations.
- 5 or more years of relevant experience in wetland ecology and management.
- Advanced technical writing, data analysis, reporting, and communication skills.
- GIS and geospatial data analysis knowledge or experience is considered an asset.
- Previous teaching experience with data or ecological-based subjects is considered an asset.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership, quality, safety, and customer service focus.
