Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Director, Data Management to lead our Non-Retail Credit Risk audits in Canada and internationally. As a key member of our Audit Department, you will be responsible for ensuring business strategies, plans, and initiatives are executed in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and drive a client-focused culture throughout your team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  2. Act as Audit Principal or Officer in Charge (OIC) for assigned projects, processes, and units, and negotiate corrective action to ensure timely resolution.
  3. Ensure Scotiabank standards and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Code of Ethics are maintained in completion of all assignments.
  4. Provide advice and counsel to business lines, product groups, and risk management functions on the design of internal controls.
  5. Conduct ongoing monitoring activities to stay abreast of changes, emerging risks, and systemic issues that may impact the risk assessment of the audit universe.
  6. Develop and execute a comprehensive and strategic audit plan, ensuring auditable entities remain within cycle.
  7. Oversee the execution, planning, and reporting on assigned audit projects, and obtain a thorough understanding of the business/unit/process and associated risks.
  8. Define and lead the end-to-end process of the execution of the audit, ensuring the nature and extent of testing is appropriate to support the objective, scope, and overall opinion.
  9. Ensure audit results are gathered, determine the root cause of the problem, and report accordingly.
  10. Prepare and/or review audit review findings for presentation to management, and monitor and follow-up for corrective action/progress against any reported issues.
  11. Ensure audit reports are written to a consistent high standard and are finalized within established department metrics.
Requirements
  1. University/Post-secondary degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or equivalent. Relevant Audit or business certifications.
  2. Accounting designation or other technical/professional designation (e.g. CPA/CFA) as an asset.
  3. Minimum of 10 years Banking and/or Credit Risk Management experience (Commercial Banking/Credit experience preferred).
