Offshore Rigger Journeyman

This role involves offshore work and is categorized as a casual call-out position. The ideal candidate must be prepared and qualified to travel offshore via helicopter or supply vessel.

As an Offshore Rigger Journeyman, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Creating and implementing rigging plans
  2. Designing, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining various rigging systems, supports, fixtures, and associated hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for industrial production and maintenance operations

In this capacity, you will utilize power tools, various rigging apparatus, and hand tools. The work environment may involve confined spaces, elevated heights, and high noise levels. Tasks may be performed indoors or outdoors, often under extreme temperature conditions.

Qualifications:

  1. All Riggers must demonstrate proficiency in their trade
  2. A fall arrest certification is mandatory for work at heights

The following Offshore Certifications and Training are essential and will be advantageous:

  1. Basic Survival Training (BST) including HUET and HUEBA
  2. Advanced rigging
  3. Rigging, Slinging, and Banksman
  4. Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) Alive
  5. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015)
  6. Offshore Safety Regulatory Awareness
  7. Fall Protection
  8. Confined Space Entry
  9. Emergency First Aid

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must successfully complete a site-specific drug and alcohol screening as required
  2. Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50lbs
  3. Must possess sufficient strength and stamina to execute the technical duties and essential functions outlined above
  4. Able to maneuver and work in confined spaces, adhering to proper protocols
  5. May be required to consistently work 12-hour shifts performing physical labor in varying temperature extremes and conditions
  6. Occasional overtime may be necessary
  7. Must be capable of climbing and maintaining balance on stairs, ladders, scaffolds, and steel frameworks, employing proper fall arrest measures when necessary
  8. Able to work safely and comfortably at heights without endangering oneself or others
  9. Must meet the physical demands of frequent walking, climbing, standing, bending, twisting, and crawling throughout the shift
