Rigger Specialist

Wood is currently seeking a highly skilled Rigger Journeyperson to join our team in Newfoundland and Labrador. This is a casual call-out role that requires extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing rigging plans, laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining various rigging systems, supports, fixtures, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for industrial production, processing systems, and general maintenance.
As a Rigger Journeyperson, you will work in confined spaces and/or at heights, as well as noisy conditions. You will be using power tools, various rigging equipment, and hand tools. Work may be indoors or outdoors, and at extreme temperatures.

Qualifications
- All Riggers must demonstrate competence in their trade.
- Fall arrest certificate is required when working at heights.
- The following Offshore Certificates and Training are required and would be considered an asset: Basic Survival Training (BST) including HUET and HUEBA, Advanced rigging, Rigging, Slinging, and Banksman, Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) Alive, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015), Offshore Safety Regulatory Awareness, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, Emergency First Aid.
Physical Requirements
- Must pass a site-specific drug and alcohol test, as required by the customer.
- Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform the technical duties and essential functions as identified above.
- Able to move and work in confined spaces, following proper protocol.
- May be required consistently to work 12-hour shifts performing physical labour in varying temperature extremes and conditions. May be required to work overtime on occasion.
- Must be able to climb and maintain balance on stairs, ladders, scaffolds, and steel framework, utilizing proper fall arrest procedures when required. Able to safely and comfortably work at heights without posing a danger to oneself or others.
- Able to meet physical requirements of frequent walking, climbing, standing, bending, twisting, and crawling for the duration of the shift.
