Position Overview:
At Vail Resorts, service is at the core of our mission, and our Snow Cat Operation team exemplifies this commitment by creating unforgettable experiences. As a Snow Cat Operator, you will be responsible for preserving the pristine condition of our snow-covered slopes. This role requires safety-conscious individuals skilled in operating heavy machinery to ensure optimal snow surfaces for our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand the operation, maintenance, and usage of heavy machinery utilized for snow grooming.
- Operate snow grooming equipment, including snowcats, to uphold the quality and aesthetics of resort trails and ski slopes.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the mountain terrain and comply with safety protocols.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment to reduce downtime.
- Effectively communicate using a two-way radio.
- Report advanced mechanical issues or maintenance requirements to shop mechanics.
- Collaborate effectively with coworkers and other departments to provide guidance and maintain positive working relationships.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience in snow grooming is required.
- A valid driver's license with no restrictions is necessary.
- Fluency in English is required for effective communication.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
- Capability to sit for extended periods while operating the snowcat and frequently climb on and off the equipment.
- Familiarity with two-way radio communication and relevant codes.
