About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Health Care Worker to join our team at BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services. As a Health Care Worker, you will play a vital role in providing care and support to patients with complex mental health and substance use challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families, providing support and care in accordance with established care plans.
- Provide personal care to patients, including bathing, dressing, and assisting with oral hygiene and toileting needs.
- Perform nursing care functions, including monitoring patient progress and reporting significant observations to the Registered Nurse or designate.
- Respond to call bells and alarms, and assist as necessary in emergent situations.
Requirements
- Grade 10 and graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant or Care Attendant program, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively and physically able to carry out the duties of the position.
- Commitment to developing knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments, including Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action and United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
