Job Summary:
Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our interdisciplinary team in the Mental Health and Addictions Urgent Care Centre. As a key member of our team, you will provide specialized short-term crisis intervention, risk assessment, and symptom reduction services to individuals aged 16 years or older experiencing a mental health or addiction crisis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support in the provision of physical health and psychiatric services within the interdisciplinary teams
- Assess client condition and needs based on interviews, interactions, and direct observation and physical examination, contributing to the development and implementation of therapeutic client care and transitions plans
- Develop therapeutic rapport with clients, families, and community partners
- Contribute to client assessments, gathering collateral data, and taking histories
- Document client care and compliance with quality standards (under physician supervision)
Requirements:
- Graduate of a Physician Assistant Program (Canadian/US) or equivalent
- Certified by the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada
- Eligible to work in Canada/Ontario
- Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively and with respect in an oral and written format with patients, public, colleagues, and other health disciplines
- Demonstrates ability to perform complete and appropriate clinical assessment and development of a treatment plan in accordance with medical directives
- Demonstrates proficient and appropriate use of diagnostic and procedural skills
- Demonstrates effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrates ability to work in a collaborative care model with all members of the health care team
- Demonstrates commitment to continuing education activities supporting ongoing professional learning
