Position Overview

In this role, you will report directly to the Manager of Health Information Services, engaging in a variety of essential functions related to Health Information Services. Your responsibilities will include patient pre-registration, patient registration, bed management, health record organization, processing of death records, retrieval of Drug Program Information Network (DPIN) data, Client Registry searches, chart management, late report processing, chart assembly, and the generation and dissemination of reports.

Experience

  • Proficiency in a Windows operating environment is essential.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • A minimum of grade 12 education is required.
  • Successful completion of the Medical Administrative Assistant Program at a recognized institution, a certified medical secretary program, or the first year of a recognized nursing diploma/degree - OR - completion of a recognized medical terminology course, accompanied by one year of experience in a Patient Registration department or one year of related experience.

Note: Experience as a Ward Clerk, Unit Assistant, Secretary, or Receptionist in a clinical setting is considered relevant.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to type accurately at a speed of 45 words per minute.

Physical Requirements

  • Willingness to work extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to manage interactions with potentially aggressive or agitated individuals.
  • Commitment to adhering to all safety and health policies, regulations, and safe work practices.
