Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Treasurer will spearhead the development and management of comprehensive financial forecasting and budgeting frameworks. This role encompasses metric creation, reporting, ad-hoc analysis, and decision-making support. You will play a crucial role in shaping both short-term and long-term business strategies, facilitating informed decisions that drive the success of the organization. The Treasurer will also provide visionary leadership with a focus on process enhancement to ensure effective management of financial assets, liabilities, and risks, enabling the Authority to meet its strategic goals. Additionally, you will oversee and refine the Treasury and Cash Management functions, ensuring prudent asset management and informed financial decision-making, which are vital for the airport's operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance strategic planning by implementing annual operational, staffing, and long-range plans that align with organizational objectives, optimize resource allocation, and ensure financial stability as defined by the CFO.
  • Lead the annual business planning and budgeting cycle.
  • Educate and guide stakeholders to recognize the importance of budgeting, planning, risk assessment, and understanding the financial implications of business activities.
  • Improve operational reporting across the organization to showcase revenue, costs, and trends affecting productivity, profitability, and customer experience.
  • Utilize dashboards and variance analysis to provide insights into the performance of each business unit.
  • Drive the establishment of goals and KPIs that align with overall company objectives, measuring and reporting monthly performance metrics.
  • Develop concise performance reports for the benefit of the Board, Executive Team, and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the creation and execution of the capital asset budget, collaborating with various departments to prioritize projects based on strategic needs and compliance requirements.
  • Guide the capital budget team in accurate forecasting, tracking, and reporting of expenditures, producing regular capital expenditure reports.
  • Conduct financial analyses to assess the viability of proposed projects, including NPV calculations and risk evaluations.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive financial model of the organization's historical and projected performance to inform management decisions regarding capital expenditures.
  • Implement internal treasury strategies to optimize the use of financial assets and liquidity sources.
  • Attract cost-effective capital to support business strategies and enhance the Authority's reputation among investors.
  • Develop long-term debt management strategies that reflect sound financial practices and compliance with obligations.
  • Exemplify and promote leadership behaviors that support the organization's vision through the development of diverse, skilled teams.

Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree in business or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience, including at least 5 years in a Treasury-related role.
  • Experience in multinational corporations is a significant advantage.
  • Possession of a CPA, CA, CGA, or CMA designation (CPA, CA preferred).
  • Familiarity with Canadian taxation is beneficial.
  • Treasury-related certifications are an asset.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Transportation Security Clearance.
