We are seeking experienced Policy Advisors to enhance our Construction Research Centre. Ideal candidates will embody our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect, and Creativity.

As part of the Codes Canada directorate, you will play a pivotal role in the development of Canada's Construction Code Development system, which operates under a collaborative federal-provincial-territorial framework. This team is responsible for managing relationships with various stakeholders, including federal departments, provincial and territorial governments, and industry organizations.

In this role, you will:

  • Support high-level committees such as the Canadian Table for Harmonized Construction Codes Policy.
  • Assist in the formulation of policy advice on critical issues related to building design, construction, and operational standards.
  • Address pressing challenges such as climate change and accessibility through effective policy development.
  • Prepare comprehensive briefing materials for executive-level committees.
  • Collaborate with technical experts and maintain strong industry relationships.
  • Contribute to multi-jurisdictional initiatives that integrate research outcomes into practical guidelines and codes.

Successful candidates will possess a robust understanding of building construction, regulatory frameworks, and the economic implications of technology in design and construction. Qualifications

To be considered, candidates must clearly outline their qualifications in their application, demonstrating how they meet the following criteria:

Education

A Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, political science, or building science is required. Degrees in related fields with relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience

  • Proven experience managing complex policy files in technical areas.
  • Experience providing strategic advice to senior management on intricate policy matters.
  • Experience supporting interdepartmental and intergovernmental committees to foster collaboration.
  • Familiarity with building codes or standards is advantageous.
  • Experience in regulatory policy within the construction sector is a plus.
  • Experience in program management, particularly in coordinating research initiatives, is beneficial.

Compensation

This position is classified at the RCO-2-3 level, with a salary range of $80,523 to $133,853, depending on experience and qualifications.
