Your Challenge

At the National Research Council of Canada, we are seeking a skilled Policy Advisor to support our Construction Research Centre. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in developing policy considerations and advice on topics related to building design, construction, and operation.

About the Role

The Policy Advisor will work closely with senior-level committees, including the Canadian Table for Harmonized Construction Codes Policy, the Canadian Board for Harmonized Construction Codes, and the Advisory Council for Harmonized Construction Codes. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting executive-level code system committees with high-quality briefing materials
  • Working directly with technical content experts to develop and present strategic and regulatory policy options
  • Collaborating with provincial and territorial colleagues to maintain strong relationships with industry organizations
  • Contributing to multi-jurisdictional, multi-stakeholder, and multidisciplinary initiatives in support of the development of guidelines and codes

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, political science, or building science
  • Significant experience managing complex policy files involving technical subject areas
  • Experience providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management on complex policy issues
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
