Position Overview
The City of Brantford, a vibrant community with a population exceeding 100,000, is seeking a dedicated professional to fill the role of Project Management Specialist. This position plays a crucial role in overseeing the execution of medium to large-scale capital initiatives within the municipality. The City prides itself on fostering a progressive work environment, offering flexibility and opportunities for professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Manager of Facilities Capital Development, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Supporting the implementation of capital projects as outlined in the City's strategic plans.
- Managing all project-related communications, ensuring timely distribution to relevant stakeholders, including consultants and construction managers.
- Making informed decisions and providing prompt responses to project inquiries, while adhering to established timelines and budgets.
- Preparing and submitting regular progress reports to municipal leadership, tracking project sequences and costs effectively.
- Coordinating project meetings, including site visits and design discussions, to ensure all parties are aligned.
- Overseeing contracted personnel and ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards for all contracted work.
- Planning and executing energy efficiency upgrades and safety-related projects, while conducting necessary inspections and resolving issues as they arise.
- Assisting in the development and management of project budgets, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of three (3) years of accredited education in architectural, construction management, project management, or facility management.
- At least five (5) years of experience in construction management.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a municipal setting or a combination of relevant experience and training.
- Membership in OACETT or a similar professional organization is preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is advantageous.
- Strong communication and administrative skills are essential.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a collaborative environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and AutoCAD, with a focus on financial analysis.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations, along with excellent organizational skills.
- Availability for after-hours calls as needed.
- A valid Ontario driver's license in good standing is mandatory.
