About the Role

The City of Brantford is seeking a highly skilled Project Management Specialist to support the delivery of medium to large-scale capital projects. As a key member of the Facilities Capital Development team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of projects, from planning to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Manager of Facilities Capital Development in the planning, coordination, and administration of capital projects
  • Provide technical assistance and deliver assigned capital projects as outlined in the City's 10-year Capital Plan
  • Receive, review, and administer all project-related correspondence, including distribution to stakeholders and project consultants
  • Make timely decisions and provide prompt actions to requests, and receive approval from higher authorities when required
  • Adhere to project timelines, schedules, and budgets, and provide regular update reports to City Council
  • Track project sequences and costs, process progress payments, and submit grant-funded claims
  • Coordinate and attend project-related meetings, including site meetings, design meetings, user group meetings, and working group meetings
  • Manage contracted staff, provide support to programs, and administer quality assurance for contracted work
  • Plan and deliver energy conservation retrofits, barrier-free, and health and safety-related projects
  • Conduct inspections, provide advice, and resolve problems

Requirements

  • Completion of a minimum three-year accredited architectural, building construction management, project management, or facility management program
  • Minimum of five years' construction management experience
  • Minimum of three years' work experience in a municipal environment or combined equivalent experience, training, and knowledge of building construction, operations, and maintenance, structural and architectural systems, and knowledge of energy management strategies
  • Good standing membership in OACETT or equivalent is an asset
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset
  • Excellent communication and administrative skills
  • Assertive and confident, with the ability to provide excellent customer service and work on multiple projects simultaneously in team environments
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word and AutoCAD, with a strong focus on financial analysis and economic justification
  • Candidates will have a general knowledge of codes and legislation related to building construction technology, as well as excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Response to after-hours calls will be required
  • A valid Ontario driver's license in good standing is required
