**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Engineer 2nd Class to join our team at Kap Paper Inc. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our steam plant.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Perform testing on all boilers and condensate systems to ensure optimal performance and safety
* Assist with the operation of gas boilers and adjust chemical feed rates to maintain residuals
* Visually inspect equipment under your care, including fans, stokers, grates, dampers, valves, and controllers
* Blow down water columns and gauge glasses to maintain system integrity
* Monitor softeners for hardness and regenerate softeners as needed
* Mix and maintain caustic tank and feed rates
* Assist with plug-ups on the wood waste system and assist the Biomass Operator on the loader as needed
* Change charts and perform data entry in the computer
* Record any operational problems in the Assistant Operators logs
* Change various filters around the plant, including precipitators, degasifiers, and MCC room filters
* Assist with lockouts and chemical unloading
* Check and start up air compressors as required
* Perform duties as assigned by the Shift Engineer as required

**Requirements:**

* Education/Certification: Minimum Ontario Third Class (TSSA) Power Engineering License or better
* Experience: Experience with boiler equipment and their auxiliaries is an asset
* Willingness to learn in a fast-paced industrial environment
* Participation in the current training matrix for progression toward the next highest Power Engineering license
* Good level of maturity, interpersonal, and communication skills
