Job Title: Power Engineer

At Kap Paper Inc., we are committed to sustainability and environmental stewardship. We are seeking a skilled Power Engineer to join our team in Kapuskasing, ON.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine testing and maintenance on boilers and condensate systems.
  • Assist with the operation of gas boilers and adjust chemical feed rates as needed.
  • Conduct visual inspections of equipment and perform tasks such as blowing down water columns and gauge glasses.
  • Monitor softeners for hardness and regenerate as necessary.
  • Assist with plug-ups on the wood waste system and Biomass Operator on loader duties.
  • Record operational problems in the Operation logs and perform data entry in the computer system.
  • Change filters and assist with lockouts as required.
  • Support the Chief Operating Engineer and uphold the TSSA Operating Engineers' Act and regulations.
Requirements:
  • Minimum Ontario Third Class (TSSA) Power Engineering License or better.
  • Experience with operating boiler equipment via DCS and auxiliaries is an asset.
  • Willingness to learn in a fast-paced industrial environment and participate in the current training matrix for progression toward the next highest Power Engineering license.
  • Good level of maturity, interpersonal, and communication skills.
