Position Overview

As a vital member of JPS Trucking Ltd, the Long Haul Truck Driver plays a crucial role in the transportation of goods across long distances. This position requires a commitment to safety, professionalism, and efficiency in delivering cargo.

Key Responsibilities
  • Education: No formal degree, certificate, or diploma required.
  • Coaching: Mentor fellow drivers on innovative techniques and best practices.
  • Customer Service: Maintain a high standard of professionalism in interactions with clients.
  • Travel Coordination: Organize travel routes, itineraries, and necessary reservations.
  • Team Driving: Collaborate with a partner in a two-person driving team or convoy.
  • Loading and Unloading: Safely handle the loading and unloading of goods.
  • Vehicle Operation: Operate straight or articulated trucks for transporting materials.
  • Vehicle Inspection: Regularly check the condition of the vehicle, including tires, lights, and brakes.
  • Payment Handling: Manage payments for goods transported.
  • Emergency Repairs: Conduct roadside repairs as necessary.
  • Inspection Duties: Perform thorough pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Carry out routine maintenance on the vehicle.
  • Communication: Relay information to central dispatch effectively.
  • Record Keeping: Document cargo details, service hours, distance traveled, and fuel usage.
  • Safety Measures: Ensure the safety and security of cargo through proper tarping.
  • Handling Hazardous Materials: Transport and manage dangerous goods in compliance with regulations.
Qualifications
  • Licenses and Certifications: AZ class license, Air Brakes Endorsement, Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi-trailer trucks), and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is considered an asset.
