Position Overview

Reporting directly to the President and Vice-Chancellor, the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO) is entrusted with the oversight of multiple operational units, including Ancillary Services, Facilities Management, Financial Services, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal Affairs, Athletics, and Recreation Services.

The CFAO plays a pivotal role in harmonizing the institution's operational strategies with its academic objectives, in alignment with the University Mandate Statement and Strategic Plan.

With a steadfast commitment to fostering student achievement, the CFAO is innovative and forward-thinking, ensuring the ongoing effectiveness of all financial operations while also directing the creation and execution of financial, human resource, and administrative frameworks.

Possessing exceptional relationship management skills, the CFAO engages in negotiations and the administration of collective agreements with key university stakeholders and actively participates in external relations and governmental interactions.

The CFAO will cultivate an environment within their domain that inspires staff to contribute to the institution's academic mission, financial health, human resource accomplishments, and administrative excellence.


Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a distinguished background in financial, operational, and administrative leadership, with significant experience in a complex public sector setting.

Preferred qualifications include a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and a master's degree.

With a proven track record of collaboration and measurable outcomes, the candidate will demonstrate the ability to connect strategic planning with operational and business goals while enhancing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be a transformational leader and mentor, showcasing effective political insight and strong communication capabilities, with the ability to engage, innovate, lead change, and inspire others.
