Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Facilities Attendant to join our team at the City of St. Catharines. As a Facilities Attendant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our arena and pool facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to patrons, including answering questions and assisting with on-ice activities.
  • Ensure that all public and employee areas of the facility are safe, clean, and tidy at all times.
  • Enforce skate and swim program rules and regulations.
  • Perform on-ice maintenance duties, including assisting with floods, moving nets, and clearing snow.
  • Operate assigned equipment, including floor scrubbers, power washers, and shop vacuum.
  • Set up equipment for regular and special events.
  • Report any problems, incidents, or damages to the supervisor on duty.

Requirements:

  • Availability to work 16 to 24 hours per week, including weeknight and weekend shifts.
  • Own CSA-approved safety footwear, skates, and helmet.
  • Strong skating skills and knowledge of safe on-ice practices.
  • Ability to work effectively with and for the public in a polite manner.
  • Ability to work with a team.
  • Ability to perform moderate to hard physical labor, lifting up to thirty (30) lbs.
  • Valid certification in Standard First Aid and CPR with AED (Defibrillator).
  • Proven completion of Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness training.

Working Conditions:

The Facilities Attendant will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to cold temperatures and physical demands. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.

Wage and Benefits:

The hourly wage for this position is $18.25. The City of St. Catharines offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a pension plan.
