Key Responsibilities- Risk Assessment and Evaluation: Assess and evaluate risk for new and existing business, ensuring accurate and timely underwriting decisions.
- Underwriting Expertise: Assist more junior underwriters with applying corporate underwriting standards and share knowledge and skills with others in the branch.
- Report Analysis: Analyze reports to determine adequate exposure and loss rating, maintaining awareness of market trends, pricing levels, and policy form amendments.
- Negotiation and Communication: Negotiate renewal terms for the retention of business, respond to inquiries from brokers regarding modification to policy files, and work with brokers to develop new business.
- Broker Relationships: Develop and maintain excellent broker relationships and management of assigned broker portfolio, providing above-average customer service.
- Commercial P&C Underwriting Experience: 5-10 years of commercial P&C underwriting experience, with a strong understanding of underwriting principles and practices.
- Certifications and Education: CIP is preferred, with a strong emphasis on continuous learning and professional development.
- Communication and Organizational Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong organizational and administration skills.
- Teamwork and Adaptability: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a high level of motivation and enthusiasm.
- Technical Skills: Good computer skills, with the ability to meet challenging deadlines and perform effectively under pressure.
