Release Manager

CB Canada is seeking a skilled Release Manager for a contract opportunity.

Key Responsibilities of the Release Manager

The Release Manager will:
  • Oversee and synchronize integrated BMA releases.
  • Plan and schedule integrated BMA modifications in both pre-production and production settings.
  • Implement, promote, and maintain best practices in BMA Release Management, ensuring governance and processes are effectively integrated.
  • Monitor and enhance the readiness of BMA teams for release deliverables throughout the entire process.
  • Evaluate and pinpoint opportunities for process improvements to enhance Release practices.
  • Drive continuous enhancements in release deployment methodologies and procedures.
  • Track the health of releases during the cycle in collaboration with the BMA Release and QA teams, focusing on aspects such as defects and smoke testing.
  • Communicate all activities related to releases effectively.
  • Assess and analyze impacts, risks, dependencies, and critical paths of releases in partnership with BMA teams.

This role entails:
  • Planning, coordinating, managing, and monitoring the release of deliverables across multiple projects.
  • Identifying, communicating, and coordinating all tasks related to releases among various teams, including defect backlogs and planned release scopes.
  • Reporting on risks, impacts, dependencies, and critical paths to ensure the quality of releases is maintained.
  • Conducting reviews and managing the release change control process to maintain control over schedules, quality, risks, and impacts.
  • Driving domain teams to resolve defects within the established SLA criteria while supporting quality management in executing the planned testing strategy.
  • Escalating and reporting on projects and backlogs that do not meet readiness criteria affecting release schedules and quality.
  • Creating, maintaining, and publishing comprehensive release documentation.
  • Collaborating with BMA teams during technical meetings and facilitating issue management sessions.
  • Communicating the outcomes of release meetings and sessions effectively.

Essential Skills for the Release Manager
  • Project Management experience in IT projects and integrated applications.
  • Experience in program or technical portfolio management of integrated IT projects and applications.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle and Software Test Life Cycle delivery and support.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes, best practices, and relevant tools (such as ServiceNow, Jira, or similar).
