Job Description

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in the CIMA+ Labrador City office, reporting to project engineers and project managers on both greenfield and brownfield projects. The approximate duration for this work placement will be 4 months.

Key Responsibilities
  • Site Visits and Documentation: Complete site visits to document existing conditions in both greenfield and brownfield heavy industrial projects.
  • Civil/Structural Design Support: Assist in Civil/Structural detailed design / analysis (related to General Arrangements, structural steel, reinforced concrete, equipment anchoring, etc) for heavy industrial sites.
  • Drawing Reviews and Mark-ups: Be involved in detailed drawing reviews and mark-up for designers / drafters.
  • Construction Document Preparation: Work with engineers to produce construction documents, such as scope of work, bill of materials, and schedules.
  • Project Lifecycle Support: Be involved in projects from Kick-off through completion of Construction / Commissioning.
Compensation and Benefits
  • The salary for this position ranges from $22.50 to $28.00 per hour, depending on your academic profile, the number of credits earned, and your previous co-op or internship experience. The final offer and salary may be adjusted based on your unique profile.
  • Air travel to and from Labrador City will be provided at the start and end of the work term.
  • A company vehicle will be provided at the start and end of the work term (shared).
  • Accommodations will be provided in Labrador West.
  • A per diem amount will be provided.
Qualifications
  • Student presently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively.
  • A valid Canadian Driver's License is required.
  • Passing pre-hire fitness for work (i.e. medical test).
