Family Medicine Physician

The Bayers Lake Primary Care Clinic offers a unique chance for physicians to work in a managed, turn-key practice with a team of healthcare professionals. This clinic supports care to unattached patients and connects them to Virtual Care Nova Scotia. The clinic operates in a partnership model with other Primary Care Clinics across the zone.
Responsibilities include:
- Examine patients, take their histories, order diagnostic tests, and advise on healthcare, health promotion, and disease prevention
- Consult and refer to other medical practitioners
- Act as a patient's advocate
- Prescribe and administer medications, treatments, inoculations, and vaccinations
- Report births, deaths, contagious diseases, and other health requirements
This position reports to the Head, Department of Family Practice, Central Zone, for professional and clinical activities, and is supported by the Primary Health Care management team for administrative activities.
The EMR in use is MedAccess. This is a sessional, hourly paid role with no overhead for physicians. The clinic is open Monday to Friday, excluding holidays, evenings, and weekends, with 37.5 hours of work per week.
