Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead comprehensive design activities throughout the product lifecycle, addressing design challenges, collaborating with various stakeholders, and striving for optimized design results.
  2. Create, issue, and sustain Technical Data Packages (TDP) pertaining to primary (hull) and secondary structures (including doors, hatches, grills, and armor).
  3. Prepare and deliver formal Design Review presentations.
  4. Ensure accountability for designs while adhering to specified requirements.
  5. Investigate and implement corrective measures for production, supplier, or in-service challenges.
  6. Conduct or assist in preliminary structural analyses utilizing tools such as Simcenter (NX), SimSolid (Altair), or comparable FEA software to inform design choices.
  7. Proactively identify opportunities for personal and team development.
  8. Maintain professional and effective communication with all relevant stakeholders.
  9. Oversee test planning, execution, and reporting processes.
  10. Manage and track task execution within defined scope, budget, schedule, and requirements.
  11. Recognize and mitigate technical, scheduling, and budgetary risks.
  12. Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
  13. Support and/or spearhead quality and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities as required.
  14. Guide the development and upkeep of best practices, guidance documents, processes, and procedures.
  15. Assist in Customer interactions as necessary.
  16. Share innovative Independent Research and Development (IRAD) concepts with key stakeholders and support project execution as needed.
  17. Contribute to bidding and proposal efforts as requested.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree, College Diploma, or proven exceptional skills in a relevant engineering field.
  2. A minimum of 3 to 5 years of pertinent subject matter expertise.
  3. Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
  4. Strong understanding of materials, structural analysis, and manufacturing processes.
  5. Experience with NX Unigraphics or similar CAD software.
  6. Demonstrated project leadership experience.
  7. Willingness to travel (5% within Canada and 5% to the US & International) and possess or be able to obtain a valid passport.
  8. Must meet Anthropometrical Size Requirements for confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Familiarity with military vehicle specifications and standards.
  2. Hands-on experience in manufacturing.
  3. Engineering designation or the ability to obtain P. Eng designation.
  4. Proficient understanding of GDLS-C processes and products.
