Draftsperson for Small Modular Reactor Project

Aecon Nuclear is seeking a skilled and motivated Draftsperson to join our team supporting the construction of Canada's first Small Modular Reactor (SMR) at the Darlington site.

As part of an alliance agreement with Ontario Power Generation, Aecon will be responsible for various phases of the project, including validation, design, procurement, early site preparation, and site mobilization. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a groundbreaking project that will shape the future of energy in Canada.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed fabrication drawings, quantity calculations, and 3D models for use in Machine Control applications.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives by reporting on key metrics and contributing to solutions.
  • Develop comprehensive drafting plans that meet project specifications.
  • Provide essential drafting support for tooling, fabrication templates, and inspection procedures.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with the client throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate effectively with design partners, trades supervision, and project team members to ensure seamless execution.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills by addressing as-built conditions and contributing to solutions within the project team.
Your Qualifications:
  • A Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology from NAIT (or an equivalent accredited institution) or a post-secondary education in design, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, or Architectural program.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Suite software, including Inventor, Fusion, and AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with piping systems, structural systems, and fabrication drafting principles.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Drafting/Engineering Design role within the construction industry.
  • Familiarity with Pipeline/Heavy Civil construction methodologies and practices.
  • Ability to interpret field data and rough sketches accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of all drawings.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A proven track record of maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to safety protocols.
