Key Responsibilities:

  1. Generate estimates for labor and material costs
  2. Prepare submissions for pre-qualification to present to clients
  3. Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ascertain work requirements
  4. Create master format estimates (Class A)
  5. Develop elemental format estimates (Classes B, C, D)
  6. Utilize CADD and other software systems
  7. Draft estimates for general expenses and overheads
  8. Conduct economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for potential projects
  9. Project cash flow and financing needs
  10. Compile and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bid forms
  11. Implement quantity take-off methods
  12. Advise on tendering processes
  13. Evaluate tenders and recommend contract awards
  14. Establish cost monitoring and reporting systems
  15. Oversee and adjust contract expenditures
  16. Maintain a directory of suppliers and trade contractors
  17. Collaborate and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors regarding cost estimate adjustments
  18. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications

  2. Membership in the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors
  3. Membership in the Professional Corporation for Estimators
  4. Occupational Health and Safety Certificate
  5. First Aid Certification

  7. Carpenter Trade Certification
  8. Electrician Trade Certification
  9. Plumber Trade Certification
  10. WHMIS Certification
