A remarkable opportunity for a Cost Estimator Specialist to join a multidisciplinary construction cost consultancy in Toronto.

Project Overview
The role of the Cost Estimator Specialist involves preparing pre-contract estimates and cost evaluations for a diverse range of construction projects, including educational institutions, office buildings, industrial facilities, and residential developments. This position is primarily office-based in Toronto.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate comprehensive Construction Cost Estimate reports at various design stages.
  • Analyze technical and commercial tender documents.
  • Examine construction drawings.
  • Conduct quantity takeoff calculations.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender and RFP submissions.
  • Compile procurement packages and solicit pricing from subcontractors and material suppliers.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and estimate reviews.
  • Familiarize with estimating software and methodologies.
  • Engage in commercial management tasks.
  • Provide support across different departments.

Desired Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A solid understanding of preparing estimates and budgets.
  • A minimum of 2 years of cost estimating experience within the construction sector.
  • Previous experience with a cost consultancy firm is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with the ability to create professional proposals and presentations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a robust work ethic.
  • Excellent organizational capabilities.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently within a team setting.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • A diploma in Architectural, Construction or Civil Technology, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Science, or a related field.
  • Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) designation or RICS membership (or willingness to pursue).
