Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled In-House Legal Counsel to enhance our legal team. This role is crucial in managing insurance litigation cases and providing expert legal guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage insurance litigation cases from inception to resolution.
  • Draft legal documents including opinions, pleadings, and affidavits to facilitate mediations and trials.
  • Conduct legal proceedings such as applications, discoveries, and arbitration independently.
  • Deliver legal training sessions to the claims department and assist colleagues with legal inquiries.
  • Maintain effective communication with the claims department and adjusters.

Qualifications:

  • Active member of the Law Society.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance litigation.
  • Proficient in legal research and writing, with experience in drafting legal opinions.
  • Skilled in preparing pleadings and conducting mediations and trials.
  • Familiarity with alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods.
  • Trial experience is a significant advantage.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with negotiation experience.
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple cases effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster client relationships.
