Position Overview: Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Corporate Legal Advisor will serve as both a business and legal ally to the executive team.

The successful candidate will be tasked with evaluating and refining our comprehensive legal framework while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

This role is pivotal in the creation and implementation of our legal documents, contracts, and corporate records. The ideal candidate will bring vision and enthusiasm to the formulation and execution of contracts and legal agreements. The Corporate Legal Advisor will provide in-house expertise and support across all legal dimensions of the organization, playing a critical role in facilitating corporate partnerships, mergers, and acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement high-level, results-driven legal strategies that bolster current operations while considering the long-term implications of legal and contractual decisions on overall performance and risk management.
  • Proactively collaborate with senior leaders to develop and maintain efficient and effective legal documentation.
  • View legal functions as partners to other business areas, enabling them to achieve business objectives and performance targets.
  • Manage certain projects independently while coordinating with external firms for additional legal work.
  • Balance immediate and long-term priorities to support the organization's overall health.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a JD/LLB and be a member in good standing of the Ontario Law Society, with the ability to work in Canada on a permanent basis.
  • Demonstrated experience across various industries, with the capacity to quickly understand new concepts, office cultures, and systems.
  • Dynamic and entrepreneurial, with practical corporate controls and processes, a passion for growth, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire teams to deliver quality work under tight deadlines while managing multiple tasks.
  • Exceptional planning and execution skills, with the confidence to engage in candid discussions and provide constructive feedback to peers.
