About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Director to join our Canada Data Office (CDO) team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing program governance leadership and embedding strong program management best practices across the CDO.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and implement program management best practices, including processes, tools, and templates, to support the CDO's strategic priorities.
  • Provide program governance leadership and oversight, ensuring the effective management of financial management and reporting, planning, and partner engagement.
  • Develop and maintain a program management playbook, combining industry best practices and Manulife standards, to ensure consistency and agility.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the delivery program strength, challenging the status quo to drive improvement.
  • Support the Head of CDO in capacity and resource forecasting, budget management, and planning at the portfolio level.
  • Develop and maintain regular portfolio reporting and dashboards for internal and external partners, including consolidation of program status reports from program managers.
  • Create reports and dashboards to visualize and communicate CDO delivery performance.
  • Own selected programs within the portfolio and guide and manage other program managers and/or engage with value stream leads within the CDO.
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of hands-on program management experience in a large-sized organization.
  • Experience with data technology solutions, including big data technologies, such as Cloud (Azure), and the ability to converse with data architects and data engineers.
  • Excelling in program/program/portfolio financial management.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile processes.
  • Proven track record of building effective relationships within various levels of an organization to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid conflict management and resolution skills, with the ability to build consensus, anticipate, and solve problems.
  • High analytical ability to break down complex issues into solvable pieces.
  • Self-directed and confident to work independently, with good judgment to know when supervisor's help is needed.
  • A team-first approach, able to contribute to the building of an impactful team with a high degree of trust.
  • A fast learner, with strong resilience and resourcefulness to work through ambiguity.
